Autistic adults often find that it’s easier to communicate using email and chats for a number of reasons. It helps us have time to process, regulate, and compose an appropriate response. It also reduces masking demands and the risk of discrimination. Slow and steady disrupts the burnout cycle.

So, I am offering coaching that utilizes email and chat as an accommodation to you and to me. With this format you can expect the following:

  1. One weekly meeting over chat (50 minutes)
  2. One weekly document with resources, exercises and/or action steps
  3. I will provide proofreading and/or feedback on one document (resume, cover letter, submissions, essays, etc)
    • Up to 3 pages (1500 words)
    • $1/page (500 words) past 3 pages
  4. OR links 2-3 personalized job listings (provided in your weekly document)

There is an element of homework to my service. You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do, but these tools are here to help you reflect, get organized, and build. So use them in a way that best suits you and your needs.

How it works

Getting Started

Once you sign up, you’ll receive a welcome letter with links to resources that will help me gather more information on how best to help you. I’ll use this info to design an approach that is tailored to your needs.

Then, you and I will chat on a weekly basis to go over your progress, answer your questions, and provide you with feedback. I will also send you a weekly document with a recap of your goals and other resources that might help you.

What do I mean by worksheets and resources?

People come to career coaching at different places in their job search. So I’ve gathered/created a collection of worksheets that can help with many things:

  • Deciding what’s next
  • Understanding burnout
  • Identifying your needs/accommodations
  • Gathering information
  • Building a resume or portfolio
  • Preparing for interviews
  • Gaining new skills
  • Dealing with rejection
  • Etc.

Other resources might include templates, links to informative articles, and/or links to organizations or services that might help you reach your goals.

Working through the process

Once you and I have an understanding of your big-picture goals, we’ll start working on weekly goals. These goals can be at a pace that fits your flow. The idea is to take an overwhelming process and break it down to reasonable deliverables. We’ll do a big check-in each week with a few follow up emails in between.

Coaching for the Neurodivergent Person

Autistics and ADHDers face unique circumstances in their jobs and careers. We have needs that aren’t considered in traditional work environments. Our needs vary from person to person.

Career coaching that is neuroaffirming means that we can build careers that work for us rather than against us. We don’t have to navigate this alone.

Let’s work together to disrupt the cycle of false starts, burnout, and shame. We can find ways to cultivate balance, independence, and purpose in our lives.
